Rehearsals

We rehearse on Thursday evenings, 7:30-9:15 pm during the winter and spring terms, and have one or two choral workshops at other times. Singers should please bring all music to every rehearsal. Rehearsals mostly take place in the Parish Centre at Little Saint Mary’s Church on Trumpington Street. We ask choir members to:

  • Attend as many rehearsals as possible and please let us know in advance (by noting it on the register) if you plan to be away. This helps us plan rehearsal time efficiently.
  • Arrive by 7:20 pm ready for a prompt start at 7:30 pm.
  • Bring a pencil and all this term’s music.
  • Check this page before rehearsals and familiarise yourself with the pieces – i.e. by listening to them a few times while following your own part in the score. (Some singers may want to learn their part in more detail.) It helps if you arrive at the rehearsal with an indication of any parts you are finding difficult.

15 JanuaryWelcome back, and find our voices after the Christmas break. Start work on the Kyrie & Gloria from the (Mozart) Mass; (Brahms) Geistliches Lied and (Bach) Lobet den Herrn.
22 JanuaryStart on the Sanctus, Benedictus & Agnus Dei from the Mozart Mass, and work on (Bach) Lobet den Herrn. First look through (Handel) Zadok the Priest.
29 JanuaryPut together the Credo from the (Mozart) Mass. Look through (Brahms) Wie Lieblich sind Deine Wohnungen, (Bach) Jesu Bleibet and (Handel) Hallelujah Chorus.
5 FebruaryReview all movements of the (Mozart) Mass. Focused work on (Bach) Lobet den Herrn and (Handel) Zadok the Priest.
12 FebruarySing through all the pieces and note points to work on after half term.
19 FebruaryHalf-term break
26 February Focused work on pieces as required.
5 MarchRun the programme and troubleshoot problem areas.
12 MarchFinal troubleshooting on any problem areas. Keep polishing all pieces.
19 MarchRun the programme and keep polishing.
26 MarchFinal run through and discussion of details for the concert.
28 MarchConcert at St Peter and St Paul’s Church, Dry Drayton.
